Sports Presentation and Signage
South East Melbourne Phoenix
2019 - 2022

As the South East Melbourne Phoenix entered the 2019/20 NBL season for their inaugural year, I was tasked with creating a vast array of physical and digital signage to help turn John Cain Arena (aka The Fire Pit) and other home venue stadiums into a Phoenix fortress.
During my career working at the Phoenix, my main objective with regards to Sports Presentation and signage was to build upon the previous year.
PHYSICAL Signage
Various pieces of signage for commercial obligations were created including court decals and sponsor logo boards within the broadcast camera arc.
Signage for marketing at the venue ranged from corflute height charts of each player of the team, pull up banners, seat silks for the courtside chairs and drop banners hanging from the rafters at John Cain Arena.
I also had the opportunity to brand the exterior windows of the State Basketball Centre for a number of Phoenix home games that were played in 2021. This included a member wall which featured the name of every Phoenix Member that had signed up for that season.
Stadium LEDs
For each home game, digital content for each of the screens at John Cain Arena was created to match specific theme games and various activations around the stadium.
Additionally, to help create a solid atmospheric experience, I designed several pieces of animated content that were used during the match, including defence chants timed to music and team moments e.g. when a Phoenix player scores a 3 pointer, dunk, block etc.
Media Day LED Wall
In the lead up to the 2021/22 NBL season, our department filmed the team in front of a large, curved digital screen as part of Media Day. I had the opportunity to design various pieces of animated content that would be displayed behind each player in the squad.
This content was used in marketing hype videos and the team list video that played before the match at every home game.
